The final assessment was extremely enjoyable, as I had the opportunity to perform in front of my family.
The cue sheet I created allowed me too have a clear understanding of the lay out of the performance, and played a huge aspect in positive services for the sound/light technician. Both the muck about session, and technical rehearsal were vital to delivering my final performance to the best of my capabilities, because it helped with the lay out of my solo-performance. For instance, I had a steel dust bin, with a red beam of light shining upwards towards my face. This represented my Grandfather’s death, and the red beam set the mood within the performance to be dark, upsetting and dejected. Having my family within the audience inspired me personally, as they understood the plot and story line, when discussing me and my Grandfathers relationship. Thus, this helped settle my nerves, but also added a little more pressure to deliver the show to a high standard. The cocktails I created we’re at an average standard, as I spelt some liquid when pouring the orange juice. I was disappointed with this aspect of the show, however in rehearsals I didn’t use liquids because of the health and safety regulations, so this restricted me a little.
The soundtracks that I created on Audacity we’re great, as the transition from changing my positioning 0n stage and timing of each track changing song we’re very accurate. The lighting was perfect, especially the beginning spotlight on my face, as it presented the make-up on my face brilliantly. Overall, I’m happy with the performance and I’m thoroughly pleased with my hard work and hours on end of rehearsing as it wouldn’t have ran through properly. It goes to show “Practice makes perfect”, and I’ve absolutely worked my socks off to make this performance run well. Credit to Donald Pulford for being an inspiration and giving constructive feedback whenever I needed a kick up the backside! I came into solo performance with very little confidence, and a short amount of knowledge on Solo practitioners. Theoretically I was dreadful, and now I have a complete different mindset on Solo performative shows. It’s been a pleasure, and I hope to move on and use the knowledge and experience as a learning curve, for future auditions within my agency.
